Craving salty on a milk day?

If you are having troubles and/or boredom with all the artificially sweetened yogurt and milk and have cravings for something salty or more solid, here is a nice change of pace:

Baked Yogurt

Strain the yogurt overnight.

Add savory and salt seasonings.

Bake until brown.

Raspberry Shake

You can make nice milk shakes with ice shaved into it, but a really nice treat is a yogurt-milk shake:

Raspberry Yogurt-Milk Shake

Take 5 oz of yogurt, drain it over night or at least for a few hours. Add 5 oz of milk plus 1 – 3 teaspoons of Torani Raspberry sirup (depending on how artificially sweet you like it, or not).

Put this all into a glass and mix it with a whipping motion with a spoon (or use a blender if you want to clean more dishes) until well blended and airy.

This gives a really nice shake with good consistency with the very mild tartness of the yogurt underlying. Really good if you are tired of milk-ice shakes.

Starbucks

This posting is for all Starbucks fans. As I’m not a huge fan of American coffee – see my other posting which coffee I prefer – it’s not so much about me but rather about all of the people on the program craving their special treat:

How to survive as a Starbucksaholic

Their Cup sizes:
Short: 8 oz
Tall: 12 oz
Grande: 16 oz
Venti: 20 oz

  • 1 pump of sugar free syrup is 1/3 of an ounce. If you buy a gift card and pay for your coffee with that, the syrup shot is free! (Saves 30 to 50 cents!)
  • Espresso is usually 1 ounce.
  • A Short latte is the way to go with approximately 5.5 ounces of milk
  • A Tall latte generally has 9 ounces of milk the other 3 ounces are foam, espresso and such
  • A Grande latte generally has 11 ounces of milk the other 5 ounces are foam, espresso and syrup if you chose a flavor.
  • A Venti is 14.5 ounces of milk
  • A Grande Cappuccino is made of approximately 7oz of milk
  • A steamer which is just whole milk steamed with sugar free vanilla syrup
  • A latte with whole milk, cold or hot, with sugar free vanilla, caramel, cinnamon dulce or plain. Make sure you tell them sugar free!
  • A  Misto –  It depends what size you order. A misto is half coffee and half steamed milk so a medium is only 8 ozs of milk, add the SF syrup and voila!…. yummy!
  • Starbucks Vanilla Cream: You ask them for their milk-only drink with whole milk, sugar free vanilla and NO whipped cream.  Simply ask them to froth the milk the way they do with lattes.
  • Get a latte…whole milk….sugar free caramel and sugar free mocha…..no whip cream….no foam….and get it hot or cold.   It’s AWESOME!!!
  • An iced VENTI LATTE has 12 oz milk and I add WF Choc Syrup to it and it is wonderful!

Remember to tell them to use whole milk (they switched to 2% a little while ago unless you ask) and sugar free syrup!

Day TWO

Almost can’t  believe it, I made it through Day ONE and am still alive and still excited about it all. And it REALLY WORKS. No hunger. Most of the time no attention on the fact that I have no food in me. The few times I thought I might be hungry, I drank some more water and the feeling would go instantly away.

Now, on Day TWO it’s already 1 PM and I do not feel deprived of anything, even though sofar I only had 2 cups of Rose Hips tea – great, even without any added sweetener! – and a small can of Diet Coke. Going now to enjoy:

Yogurt with Cinnamon

  • 4 oz of Plain Whole Yogurt
  • a sprinkle of granulated sweetener
  • dash of cinnamon.

Mix the cinnamon well with the sweetener and sprinkle over the yogurt. Enjoy.

Milk it is

As it was already after 4 PM and I felt rushed to somehow prepare AND eat 2 pounds of veggies and fruit before 6 PM, I decided to begin with the MILK routine first. While pouring the 10 oz whole milk I suddenly felt that this would in no way shape or form ever, ever, EVER, be enough “food” – this sentiment even though I was not hungry! Lucky enough I love plain yogurt. On a whim I decided to do a shake with it all and a couple of ice cubes and to go ahead and try the TORIANI Sugar Free Rasperry Syrup [Splenda, ugh]. I used only 1/2 serving of the syrup for all of it, which barely flavored it but was actually quite good, not overly artificial. It was a good moment to add a lot of vitamins, so that’s done too.
